All Classes in 99 Nights in the Forest (Diamond Costs, Shop Rotation & Which to Buy First)

Every class in 99 Nights in the Forest with its Diamond cost, how the Class Shop rotation and re-rolls work, how to earn Diamonds fast, and the best first buy for every budget.

Updated 2026-09-29

A class is the biggest permanent decision you make before a run. It is bought with Diamonds, it is permanent, and there is no refund and no respec — so the first class you buy is the one you play for a long time. This page lists every class with its Diamond cost, explains how the Class Shop actually works, and points you to the right first buy for your budget.

For rankings by role, see the best class breakdown. For a deep dive on one specific pick, see the Alien class.

On accuracy: class prices and the roster itself change with updates. Every number below was cross-checked across pocketgamer, the fandom wiki, stealthygaming and earnaldo's 2026 tier list on 2026-09-29. Where the guides disagree — and they do, on the total count — we say so plainly rather than picking one.

How the Class Shop Works

Currency. Classes are bought with Diamonds (some guides call them "Gems" — same currency, different word). You earn them from badges, milestones and the Cultist Stronghold loop; see how to farm Diamonds fast. Active codes can cover a cheap class outright, so check working codes before you spend.

Permanent, no take-backs. Once bought, a class is yours forever. You cannot sell it or respec into another, so read the level-3 perk before committing — most regret comes from buying on the level-1 perk alone.

Levels 1, 2 and 3. Every class starts at Level 1 and unlocks Level 2 and Level 3 by meeting in-game requirements (kills, items crafted, etc.). The level-3 perk is usually the reason a class is worth its price.

Stock rotation. Most guides describe the shop as offering a rotating selection of roughly six classes per day, refreshed every 24 hours, with one free re-roll daily and paid re-rolls after that. Under this system you may have to wait for the class you want to come into stock. One wiki claims a 19 September 2026 update revamped the shop so every class stays available at once — but two other September 2026 guides still describe the rotating shop, so we cannot confirm the revamp. Check your own lobby before spending. The Alien page covers this disagreement in more detail: Alien class availability.

Robux level skips (confirmed). You can pay Robux to skip the grind instead of meeting the requirements:

  • Skip to Level 3 — 400 Robux (only if Level 2 is already unlocked)

Classes Some Guides List (Not All Agree)

A few classes show up in some 2026 guides but not in the older price tables. They are almost certainly real additions from later updates — the roster keeps growing — but we could not confirm a single universally-agreed source, so verify the cost in your own lobby before budgeting:

ClassReported costReported role
Brute50Taunt shield that soaks enemy damage
Explorer80Sack space, fog-clearing speed, sees chests in walls
Engineer100Crafting / utility (details vary by guide)
Grenadier100Starts with impact grenades and dynamite
Snowman100Snowball Cannon that slows targets
Feaster150Stews and a stacking max-HP bonus
Nightcrawler200Shadow Dagger; dark-area buffs
Alien Scientist600Alien Shotgun + dissolving ray; extra sack space
Gunslinger600Revolver with ammo and Target List upgrades

Treat these as "reported, not confirmed" — the prices above came from single guides and may shift with the next patch.

Newest Additions (Prices Not Yet Published)

The best class page notes that Escape Artist, Elemental and Woodsman are among the most recent additions. At the time of writing (2026-09-29) none of the guides we checked had published a confirmed Diamond cost for them, so we are not guessing. Expect them to land somewhere in the 100–600 range like the rest of the roster, and check your lobby for the live number.

How to Earn Diamonds

You cannot buy a class without Diamonds, and the bottleneck is always Diamonds. The reliable sources, in rough order of payoff:

  • Cultist Stronghold rare chests — the loop that renews, the best sustained income.
  • Badges — awarded for in-game achievements; the steady drip.
  • Milestones — surviving 50 nights and 99 nights each pay out.
  • Active codes — free Diamonds that can cover a cheap class outright.

Full detail and the Diamonds-vs-Gems naming trap are on the Diamonds farming page.

Which Class to Buy First

Prices run from 10 to 600 Diamonds, and a new player can realistically afford one cheap class. Match the buy to your budget and your job:

Under 70 Diamonds (starter value).

  • Camper (10) if you just want hunger pressure off while you learn.
  • Scavenger (25) if you want to loot faster and carry more.
  • Medic (40) or Lumberjack (70) if you already know your role in a group.

100–200 Diamonds (the sweet spot).

  • Berserker (100) for solo play — the auto-revive is worth more than any damage bonus when nobody is coming to save you.
  • Alien (100) for cheap ranged combat and night vision (full pros/cons on its page).
  • Chef (150) or Blacksmith (200) if your camp is missing food or crafting.

400–600 Diamonds (endgame commitments).

  • Beastmaster (400) for pets, Assassin (500) for a katana, and the 600 tier (Cyborg, Pyromaniac, Big Game Hunter, Necromancer, Vampire) for late-game power.
  • Do not rush these. They are the reward for a few weeks of Diamond farming, not a first purchase.

Where Sources Disagree

The total class count is genuinely split. stealthygaming lists 28 classes; the fandom wiki shows roughly 30; earnaldo's 2026 list ranks "all 36 classes." The real number is in the low 30s and climbs with every update, so no single "complete list" should be trusted — and that is exactly why this page splits confirmed-vs-reported classes above instead of pretending to have a definitive count.

The paid re-roll cost is unconfirmed. One guide states a re-roll costs 99 Robux; the fandom text implies a Diamond cost (its sentence is cut off mid-figure). We could not pin a single number. What is certain: the first daily re-roll is free, and paid re-rolls are optional — do not burn Robux to rush a class that will rotate back in.

Prices are a snapshot. Classes get added and occasionally repriced with patches. The 29-class table is solid as of 2026-09-29; the reported-classes table and the newest additions are exactly the parts most likely to move.

FAQ

Are Diamonds and Gems the same thing? Yes — one currency, two words. Full explanation on the Diamonds farming page.

Can I get a refund or change class later? No. Classes are permanent, with no refund and no respec. Buy carefully.

Why can't I see the class I want in the shop? Under the rotating-shop system most guides describe, only about six classes are available per day. Wait for your pick to rotate in, use the free daily re-roll, or check whether your lobby has the newer all-available layout. See Alien class availability for the disagreement.

What's the best first class for a new player? Camper (10) for pure ease, or Medic (40) / Lumberjack (70) if you already know your group role. Solo players should aim for Berserker (100) once they have the Diamonds. See best class by role.

Do classes have a level cap? Yes — Level 3 is the maximum. Robux skips cost 250 (to L2) and 400 (to L3).
