How to Get Biofuel in 99 Nights in the Forest

Biofuel is the rain-proof campfire fuel that holds your fire at max intensity: how to build the Biofuel Processor, what to feed it, how it compares to logs, and why it matters after night 50.

Biofuel is the campfire fuel that does not care about the weather. Where a stack of logs sputters out in the rain, one Biofuel holds your fire at max intensity for minutes — and that is what keeps a deep run alive past night 50. This page covers how to build the Biofuel Processor, what to feed it, and how it stacks up against plain wood.

What Biofuel Actually Is

Biofuel is a crafted fuel item made at the Biofuel Processor. Its only job is keeping the campfire alive — but it does that job about twice as well as a log, and unlike logs it is not weakened by rain. That combination is why late-game bases run on it.

How to Build the Biofuel Processor

The Processor is a placeable station. The fandom mirror (breezewiki) and gamermovil agree on the craft:

  • Biofuel Processor: 12 Wood + 12 Scrap (per breezewiki and gamermovil, both checked 2026-09-29).

Place the Processor next to your campfire and feed it. Some guides list the Processor blueprint behind a puzzle (an Old Factory or similar); if your crafting menu does not show it, go find the blueprint first.

What to Feed It

The Processor turns food into fuel. Per the fandom mirror:

  • Any food works — carrots, corn, steak, even raw meat. Uncooked food works as well as cooked; pelts actually give more than one unit each.
  • Drop food in, wait a moment, collect Biofuel.

One Biofuel keeps the campfire at max intensity for ~5 minutes regardless of weather or current fuel level. That is the "pro strategy" for surviving the harder raids after night 50, when a dead fire means a dead run.

Where Sources Disagree

A few guides give a different recipe — for example "1 Corn + 1 Rotten Meat = Biofuel." We do not use that version: it comes from a site on our untrusted list (99nightsintheforest.wiki, which has a history of fabricated mechanics), and it is not corroborated by the fandom mirror or gamermovil. Until a second reliable source confirms a Corn/Rotten-Meat recipe, treat the "feed any food to the Processor" method as the consensus.

Biofuel vs Logs

FuelFuel valueRain-proof?Notes
Log1×No — rain drains it fasterNear-infinite if you grow saplings (see How to Get Wood Fast)
Biofuel~2×YesCosts 12 Wood + 12 Scrap for the Processor; then food → fuel

Early game, logs are fine — you are next to a forest and can grow saplings. Biofuel becomes worth it once raids get serious and weather turns; a rain-proof fire you do not have to babysit is the difference between a clean night 60 and a wipe.

How It Fits the Base Loop

Biofuel is the back end of the Best Base Design fuel loop: Farm Plots grow food → Processor turns surplus food into Biofuel → campfire stays maxed → deeper map stays open. The 12 Scrap for the Processor comes from the loot structures covered in How to Get Scrap Fast; the 12 Wood from your sapling farm in How to Get Wood Fast.
