How to Get the Trident in 99 Nights in the Forest
The Trident is the rarest weapon in 99 Nights in the Forest and the only one you catch by fishing — Bone Lakes only, campfire Level 6. The full route, the mini-game, and the real stats.
The Trident is the only weapon in 99 Nights in the Forest that you cannot loot, craft, trade or buy — you fish for it. It is also the rarest single item in the game, tied with the Morningstar, which is why a lot of players are not even sure it is real. It is: it comes out of Skeleton Lakes (also called Bone Lakes), and the odds are genuinely punishing.
This page covers the numbers, the exact fishing route, the mini-game, and the one thing that actually raises your chances — which lake you cast in.

Quick Answer
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How do I get it? | Fishing — and only fishing |
| Where | Skeleton / Bone Lakes (dark purple water), unlocked at campfire Level 6 |
| How rare? | The rarest fishing catch in the game, tied with the Morningstar as rarest weapon |
| Damage | 35 base (some sources say 37.5), 56 boosted with Berserker |
| Swing rate | roughly 0.6 seconds (~58 damage per second) |
| Special | Nothing exotic — it is a high-damage melee weapon, and it is long-reach |
| Also from | gold presents during the 2025 Christmas event (single source) |
| Worth chasing? | Keep it if you catch one — but do not plan a run around it |
What It Does
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | 35 base; 56 with a fully boosted Berserker |
| Damage per second | ~58 |
| Swing rate | ~0.6 seconds |
| Reach | Long — spear-class |
| Effect | None — it is raw damage rather than a status effect |
On the damage number, sources split. Deltia's Gaming gives 35 base and 58.3 damage per second, rising to 56 (93.3 dps) fully boosted. rblxguide instead lists the Trident at 37.5. We lean on 35, because Deltia's figures scale exactly ×1.6 (35 → 56) — the same multiplier the game uses everywhere else — while 37.5 → 62 does not. And 58.3 dps at 35 damage implies a 0.6-second swing, which is where that swing figure comes from.
That puts the Trident in the game's top damage band, just below the Ice Sword: same ballpark per hit, but a slightly slower swing. What it does not have is a special effect — no slow like the Ice Sword, no burn like the Infernal Sword, no explosion like the Morningstar. It is a spear that hits hard.
Deltia adds two useful breakpoints: the Trident kills a Wolf in two headshots and an Alpha Wolf in four.
The Only Route: Fishing a Bone Lake
There is no second door. Every source agrees the Trident comes from fishing, and almost all of them narrow it to one type of water.
1. Get a fishing rod. Collect an Old Rod from the Fishing Hut, or start a run as the Fisherman class, which spawns with one. Better rods help in general, though no source promises a rod tier that biases the Trident specifically.
2. Find a Skeleton / Bone Lake. These are the lakes with dark purple water, and they only appear once your campfire is Level 6. On a map where the highest-tier chests sit at Level 4, that makes the Bone Lake one of the last things to unlock in a run — so a Trident attempt is a late-run activity, not a day-one one.
3. Cast into the ripples. Equip the rod and click the lake to fish. Look for white, transparent ripples in the water: those are the "fast" spots, and casting into them shortens the wait for a bite.
4. Win the mini-game. When something bites, a bar appears. Click when the moving red bar lines up with the green rectangle to fill the progress meter. As the rarest catch, the Trident is at the far end of that difficulty curve — expect many attempts that end in ordinary fish.
Practical read: you are rolling a very low drop rate on a late-game, one-shot-per-cast activity. If your goal is a Trident specifically, the honest advice is to fish Bone Lakes while you are doing something else nearby, not to stand at the water for a whole run.
Why the Bone Lake Matters
Not every lake gives the same odds. Sources agree the Trident is most likely in Skeleton / Bone Lakes and rarer everywhere else — so casting in an ordinary Forest pond is not a slower route to the same prize, it is close to a wasted cast. Save the attempts for the purple water.
Classes and Boosts
The Trident scales with the same melee bonuses as everything else:
- Berserker — the pick the guides name. It takes the Trident to its 56 ceiling when fully boosted, and the class's whole kit is built around surviving a fight rather than avoiding one, which suits a no-effects melee weapon.
- Brawler — also boosts it (Gamezebo notes both), with the usual trade-off of no ranged weapons. See All Classes for the costs.
The Seasonal Shortcut
rblxguide lists a second, non-fishing source: the gold presents from the 2025 Christmas event could drop a Trident. That is a single-source, seasonal note — worth remembering if a winter event comes back, but not a route you can use today. The same source also carries a recurring caution about the Trident generally: the fishing odds are "extremely low", so treat any catch as a bonus rather than a farm target.
Is It Worth It?
Keep it if you catch one — do not build a run around getting one.
The Trident's problem is not its damage; 35–56 with long reach is a genuinely good melee weapon. The problem is that the only way to get it is a low-percentage roll on a late-game fishing minigame, and unlike the Morningstar — which falls out of Gold Chests you were opening anyway — you have to go out of your way for it. That is exactly why our Best Weapons page lists it under special sources rather than on the early-game ladder: it is a rare reward, not a progression step.
If you want a strong melee weapon you can actually plan around, farm the Morningstar or the Ice Sword instead. Fish the Bone Lake for the Trident when the run is already going well.
FAQ
Can I craft or buy the Trident? No. Fishing is the only route. It is not in any chest tier, and no class starts with one.
Which lake exactly? The Skeleton / Bone Lake — the one with dark purple water. Ordinary ponds are far worse odds.
What campfire level do I need? Level 6 for the Bone Lakes to appear on the map.
Is it real? Yes — it is just rare enough that a lot of players have never seen one. Several guides open by addressing the rumour directly.
What is its damage? 35 base (some sources say 37.5), 56 fully boosted, at roughly a 0.6-second swing.
Does it have a special effect? No. It is a high-damage, long-reach melee weapon and nothing more.
Any other way to get one? rblxguide lists the 2025 Christmas gold presents as a past event source. Treat it as seasonal, not permanent.
How good is it compared to the Ice Sword? Similar per-hit damage and longer reach, but a slower swing and no slowing effect — so slightly lower damage per second and less utility.
Sources
Checked 2026-09-30. The fishing-only route, the Skeleton / Bone Lakes, the campfire Level 6 requirement, and the fishing minigame are described consistently by Deltia's Gaming, Gamezebo and rblxguide. The stats (35 base, 58.3 damage per second, 56 fully boosted) and the Wolf / Alpha Wolf headshot breakpoints are from Deltia's Gaming; the competing 37.5 figure is rblxguide's, and we explain above why we favour Deltia's internally consistent ×1.6 scaling. The swing rate is derived from Deltia's damage-per-second figure (35 ÷ 0.6 ≈ 58.3) rather than stated directly. The "rarest fishing item" framing is unanimous, and the Morningstar-and-Trident-as-rarest-weapons pairing matches BloxSwaps' weapon table and our own Best Weapons page. The gold presents seasonal source is single-source from rblxguide. Several sites copy Deltia's wording almost verbatim (including non-English mirrors), so we treated them as one source, not as corroboration.
