How to Get the Alien Armour in 99 Nights in the Forest

The Alien Armour — the Cyborg's starting set, and the only armour that refills your Alien Tech Energy when you take a melee hit. All four ways to get it, how it ranks against Iron and Thorn, and why it pairs with the alien weapons.

The Alien Armour is the only armour set in 99 Nights in the Forest that feeds your weapons while you take hits — every melee blow that lands on you refills the Alien Tech Energy that powers the Ray Gun, Laser Cannon and Laser Sword. If you play anything alien, it is the natural endgame body.

What It Actually Does — Read This Part

Two things, and the second is the whole reason the set exists.

1. It is a strong all-round armour. It reduces incoming damage by more than the Iron Body, which is the standard mid-game set. It is not the toughest in the game — the Thorn Body gives greater protection than both the Alien Armour and the Iron Body — but it sits clearly in the upper half of the seven wearable armour sets.

2. It refills your Alien Tech Energy when you get hit in melee. This is its signature, and it is shared by no other armour. The amount restored scales with the damage you take, so a bigger hit hands back more energy. The fandom wiki lists it as regenerating energy "when hit," while the other sources are more precise and say melee attacks specifically — so treat ranged hits as not triggering it.

Why that matters: the energy bar is shared. The Ray Gun, Laser Cannon and Laser Sword all draw from the same Alien Tech meter rather than from ammo, which is why they never need reloading — but it also means running dry leaves you standing there waiting. Wearing the Alien Armour turns every wolf or cultist that closes on you into a battery top-up. That is the synergy: tank the melee hits, and you can keep firing.

Do not read it as a damage output item, though. An arrow or a bolt from a Crossbow Cultist will not charge you. The armour rewards getting stuck in, so it suits a Cyborg who is already mixing it up at close range — not a player who wants to sit back and snipe.

One single-source warning: 99-nights-in-the-forest.com adds that the armour is vulnerable to EMP effects, which can temporarily disable its energy restoration. No other source we checked mentions EMP, so treat that as unconfirmed rather than a mechanic to plan around.

Where the Alien Armour Sits

There are seven wearable armour variants in the game (plus the held Riot Shield). The Alien Armour is the step between the mid-game Iron Body and the top tiers:

TierArmourNote
EarlyLeather BodyStarter set (Brawler spawns with it)
MidIron BodyThe standard mid-game target
Mid-highAlien ArmourThis page — above Iron; recharges on melee hits
HighThorn BodyAbove Iron and Alien; reflects melee damage
EndObsidiron BodyThe toughest; Meteor event only

The permanent-armour rule applies here too. The fandom wiki and rblxguide both state that armour cannot be unequipped once worn and can only be swapped for a strictly better piece. That matters for the Alien Armour in two ways:

  • If you are a Cyborg, you spawn wearing it — so you are committing to it for the run unless you find something the game ranks above it.
  • If you are not a Cyborg and you are already wearing a Leather or Iron Body, taking the Alien Armour is a safe upgrade — a Thorn Body can still replace it later, so you are not locking yourself out of the endgame.

How to Get It

Four routes. Only one of them is reliable.

Route 1 — The Cyborg Class (guaranteed)

Buy the Cyborg for 600 Diamonds from the lobby class shop and it spawns in your inventory every run, armour included. This is the only deterministic source — and at 600 Diamonds the Cyborg is tied for the most expensive class tier in the game, which is why most players farm toward it rather than start with it. For the diamond end of that, see How to Get Diamonds Fast, and for what else the class brings, see Best Class.

Routes 2 & 3 — Broken UFOs and the Mothership

Both Broken UFO crash sites and the Mothership UFO can drop the Alien Armour as loot. Both only exist while the Alien Invasion event is live, and neither is guaranteed. If you are hunting the set without buying the Cyborg, these are the two places to be during that event.

Route 4 — Alien Chests

The Alien Chest can contain the Alien Armour. It is one of the top-tier event chests, and there is exactly one way to earn it: beat the Alien Mothership, the S-tier boss of the alien invasion. That chest is also the source of the alien weapons — its documented drops are the Alien Armour, the Laser Sword, the Laser Cannon, the Ray Gun and Diamonds. See How to Get the Laser Cannon for that side of it.

The honest read: routes 2 to 4 all depend on the Alien Invasion event being active, and none of them are guaranteed. If you specifically want this armour, the Cyborg is the answer; the UFO and chest routes are how you might get it for free.

Is It Worth Getting?

Yes — if you use alien weapons. The Alien Armour is the only set that turns incoming melee damage into ammunition, and if you are carrying a Ray Gun or Laser Cannon, that is the difference between firing continuously and standing idle waiting for the bar to refill. It is also a genuine defensive upgrade over the Iron Body most players are wearing at that stage.

Skip it if you are not playing alien. Without an energy bar to feed, the recharge effect does nothing for you, and you would be better served by a Thorn Body for protection or the endgame Obsidiron Body. And if you are not buying the Cyborg, remember the free routes are event-gated dice rolls.

FAQ

Is the Alien Armour better than the Iron Body? Yes — it gives stronger damage reduction. But the Thorn Body is stronger still, so it is not the top of the ladder.

What does the energy recharge actually do? It refills the Alien Tech Energy meter that the Ray Gun, Laser Cannon and Laser Sword all draw from. A melee hit on you hands energy back, scaled to the damage taken.

Does it recharge from ranged hits? No. The precise sources say it triggers on melee attacks. Arrows and bolts do not charge it.

Can I get it without buying the Cyborg? Yes, but only during the Alien Invasion event, and never guaranteed — from Broken UFOs, the Mothership, or an Alien Chest (which itself requires beating the Alien Mothership).

Which class starts with it? Only the Cyborg. No other class spawns wearing an Alien Armour.

Can I take it off later? No. Armour cannot be unequipped once worn; it can only be replaced by a better piece. Since the Thorn and Obsidiron bodies rank above it, wearing it does not lock you out of an upgrade.

Checked 2026-09-30. The four acquisition routes — Cyborg class, Broken UFOs, Mothership UFOs and Alien Chests — are stated by 99-nights-in-the-forest.com (which lays out four methods explicitly), Pocket Tactics (Cyborg starting tool, Broken UFOs, Mothership UFOs) and the Miraheze chest list (Alien Chest drops), with the fandom Armor page listing the same set of sources. The effect — damage reduction plus Alien Tech Energy restored when hit by a melee attack, scaling with damage taken — is stated by the fandom Armor page, the Miraheze chest list, 99-nights-in-the-forest.com and Pocket Tactics; fandom phrases it as "when hit" without the melee qualifier, so the page follows the more specific three. The tier position (above the Iron Body, below the Thorn Body) comes from the fandom Armor page, which describes the Thorn Body as out-protecting both the Iron Body and the Alien Armour, and the Alien Armour as granting greater protection than the Iron Body. The armour permanence rule is the fandom Armor page and rblxguide, and the Alien Chest contents come from the Miraheze chest list and 99nights-intheforest.net's chest guide. The Alien Invasion update date (18 July 2025) and the list of what that patch added are from our own Alien Class page, which sources it to the update. The EMP vulnerability is a single source (99-nights-in-the-forest.com) and is flagged as unconfirmed in the text.
